Clean-up Nigeria is a leading national Non-profit based advocacy group with bias for waste Management, safe drinking water and beautification in Nigeria, established in 1994. Clean-up Nigeria provides the expertise, programme and resources to help people and government at all levels and end indiscriminate waste dumping, open defecation, improve recycling, and provide safe drinking water for healthy living.

Clean-up Nigeria

Our History

Clean-up Nigeria was birthed in 1994 when the founder and the present National Coordinator; Prince Ene Baba Owoh, Jr. brought together a group of Individuals, corporate and civil leaders who met and carried out the first Clean-up campaign in an open dump site at Ogba-Ikeja, Lagos Nigeria to draw public and government’s attention to the menace of indiscriminate waste disposal and the need to promote a national Cleanliness ethics with responsible waste management system in the country.

1997-2002

Phase II – Litter Control And Preventions Method

In 1997, we entered the second phase of the use of litter baskets in all Commercial Vehicles nationwide, under a tripartite collaboration with the Nigerian Labour congress (NLC), National Union of road transport workers (NURTW) and Clean-Up Nigeria (CUN)...

1997 – 1999

Waste In Place Phase II

In continuation of our waste in place programme aimed at checkmating indiscriminate waste disposal, Lagos State Government endorsed the use of our subsidized customized disposal bags and waste bins for all households to help pre-pack and ensure safe disposal of waste in the state

Establishment Of Clean-Up Clubs In Schools In Collaboration With Unicef, Nigeria

In making a major in-road to catch them young, we pioneered the establishment of Clean-Up Clubs in twenty (20) Primary and Secondary Schools in Lagos with partnership support from United Nations Children funds (UNICEF).
